Enrichments

At Chesterfield Academy, we believe "Learning is Doing", and what better way to achieve this than to create an Enrichment Program with low teacher-child ratio that utilizes a hands-on approach to experimenting, discovering and understanding! We have developed a unique and original enrichment curriculum that provides children the opportunity to build confidence in their abilities, as well as to explore and express their individual creativity. The courses offered are designed to enrich and enhance your child’s learning experience and encourage children to become lifelong learners!

Courses Offered:

Phonics and Reading Quest
This class will be taught using the nationally recognized Zoo-Phonics program!  Zoo-Phonics uses a whole brain approach to reading and spelling.  Children will learn the sounds of the alphabet and phonemic concepts through a method of presentation that is easy to understand.  With a ratio of 1:3 your child’s learning style and progress will be easily monitored by our teacher, and the lessons each week will be tailored to the specific needs of each small group.  This class will be held twice a week for 40 minutes each session, and is available for children 2 years and older.  Classes will be comprised of children on the same academic level.

Math Quest
Early development of number concepts is critical in developing positive attitudes about mathematics at an early age! This class will include the use of concrete materials that children can manipulate to help concepts such as heavier/lighter, bigger/smaller, weight and mass make sense. Special methods and activities will assist children as they develop early numeracy skills. This class will be held twice a week for 40 minutes each session and is available for children 2 years and older. Classes will be comprised of children on the same academic level.

Cooking Quest
Our Cooking Class will revolve around three main topics each session:

Prep Time- The children will help to gather all the items that will be needed for the class: utensils, ingredients, and dishes.
Recipe Review- Together with the teacher the children will read over the recipe, assign jobs, and begin to prepare the dish.
Ingredients- Ingredients will be based on healthy choices, cultural diversity and items that will stimulate the senses.

Cooking Quest will focus on keeping our bodies healthy through the food we eat, the importance of safety and cleanliness while preparing food, building confidence by following detailed instructions, and creating a product the children can enjoy, share and be proud of! This class will be held once per week for 40 minutes each session and is available for children 2 years and older. Classes will be comprised of children on the same academic level.

Music and Movement Quest
Toddlers and two-year-olds learn best through hands-on activities and objects that they can understand and relate to. They also benefit from lots of repetitive action! We have designed this enrichment class specifically with toddlers and two-year-olds in mind! Gross motor activities go perfectly with music, and we have developed a superb program where music and movement go hand-in-hand! When paired with an energetic and animated instructor, toddlers and twos will be able to effectively increase their listening skills, work on following directions, expand their vocabulary, practice cooperation, and increase their self-confidence. Our Music and Movement Enrichment Program also uses the lower ratio of 1:3 to ensure that each child receives more individualized attention and instruction. This class will be held once a week for 30 minutes and is available for children in our toddler and two year old classrooms.

Space and availability is limited!  Please speak to our management team for more details.

what parents say about us

“I truly enjoy bringing my children to Chesterfield Academy. I trust the staff to take wonderful care of them. They are very attentive and make learning fun; so much so my children don’t want to leave when I pick them up at the end of the day!” Sincerely,
Lori
