Pre-KindergartenThank you for your interest in Chesterfield Academy's Pre-Kindergarten Program for ages 4 and 5 years. We are excited that you are considering us for your child's Pre Kindergarten Program! Children from ages 4 and 5 are developing increased interests in the world around them. At this age they are rapidly developing social and emotional skills, communication, including talking and listening, knowledge and understanding, creative development, physical development, and mathematical awareness as well. At Chesterfield Academy, our Pre-Kindergarten teachers plan your child's day to enhance his/her learning experiences. Projects and activities are focused on increasing and strengthening your child's ability to understand literacy and language skills, math and science reasoning and thought skills as well as a foreign language. Your child will work in small and large groups, as well as have the opportunity to work independently. All centers are directed by the teachers and allow children to make choices. In addition to our Theme Based Curriculum we offer a Spanish class twice a month and a Music program twice a month as well. During this stage of development, children learn and process information rapidly, and express interest and fascination in each new discovery. Our Pre-Kindergarten teachers work closely with each child to prepare him/her for their journey into Kindergarten. Projects and activities in the Pre-K classroom are geared towards Kindergarten readiness and assessment is ongoing to plan for individual child goals. Communication between staff and parents is a top priority at Chesterfield Academy. Each day you will receive a daily report that outlines your child's day and the exciting learning experiences he/she has had. Pictures taken by our caregivers are sent via email for you to enjoy while at work! These photos are also used for portfolios and in the classroom to create an environment that is familiar to the children. We also hold Parent Teacher Conferences twice a year. During Parent Teacher conferences your child's teacher will discuss with you the developmental checklist for three year olds, go through your child's developmental portfolio, and be available to address any questions or concerns you may have. Sincerely, Tracie M. King (Director) Shannon Gilmore (Assistant Director) |
