What to Expect When You're Expecting… a Preschool Decision

Choosing a preschool is one of those decisions that feels bigger the closer you get to it. You start with a list of practical questions - hours, location, cost - and then somewhere along the way it becomes something more. You're not just finding childcare. You're choosing the first place outside your home where your child will spend real, formative time.
We think that deserves a thoughtful process. And as a school that's been doing this work in Chesterfield and across West St. Louis County, we want to share what we genuinely believe families should be looking for; whether they choose us or not.

The Adults in the Room Matter Most
You can learn a lot from a classroom environment. The layout, the materials, the energy. But what tells you the most is watching the teachers.
Are they getting down to eye level with children? Are they asking questions that invite real answers, or just directing traffic? Do they notice when a child needs a moment - and respond to it?
In early childhood, the quality of relationship between teacher and child is the single most important factor in a child's experience. At Chesterfield Academy, our teachers aren't just caregivers; they're partners in your child's development. We look for people who are warm, observant, and genuinely curious about kids. And we keep class sizes small enough that those relationships can actually form.
A Curriculum That Respects How Children Learn
Young children don't learn the way older students do. Sitting still and absorbing information isn't their strong suit - and it shouldn't have to be. Children this age learn best through doing: building, pretending, exploring, creating, and talking through all of it.
Our curriculum at Chesterfield Academy is built around that reality. Learning is woven into play intentionally - not because we're skipping the academic foundation, but because play is the foundation at this age. Social skills, language development, early math reasoning, emotional regulation - all of it grows through a well-designed play-based environment.
We also offer enrichment programs and our Healthy FUNdamentals wellness curriculum, developed by experts in the field, because we believe healthy bodies and healthy minds grow together.
Communication You Can Count On
When your child is too young to give you a full recap of their day, you rely on the people who were there with them. We take that responsibility seriously.
At Chesterfield Academy, we maintain detailed, consistent communication between teachers and families. You won't be left wondering how your child's day went or whether they ate lunch. And our open-door policy means you're welcome to stop by and observe at any time - no appointment needed, no reason required. This is your child's school. You should always feel at home here.

A Program That Grows With Your Family
We serve children from infancy through age 8, with dedicated programs for every stage:
Infant Care - nurturing, responsive care from the very beginning
Toddler Program - for children under two, built around exploration and connection
Two-Year-Olds - a bridge between toddlerhood and preschool
Preschool - ages 3–4, where curiosity and early skills really take off
Pre-Kindergarten - preparing children confidently for what comes next
Summer Camp - themed weeks, special events, and the kind of summer kids remember
One of the things families tell us they value most is continuity. Not having to start over with a new school every few years means your child builds lasting friendships, and you build lasting trust with the people caring for them.
Location That Works for West County Families
We're located at 17661 Wild Horse Creek Rd in Chesterfield - central to the West St. Louis County corridor and a realistic daily commute for families in Wildwood, Ballwin, Ellisville, Town & Country, and beyond.
Our doors open at 6:30 a.m. and close at 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Breakfast, lunch, and a snack are included. We designed our schedule around the reality of working families because we know that a program that doesn't fit your day doesn't work for anyone.
Come See It for Yourself
No amount of reading replaces walking through the door. We'd love to show you around, introduce you to our teachers, and let you get a feel for what a day at Chesterfield Academy actually looks like.
