STEAM Enrichment Program
Program Overview
At Chesterfield Academy, we believe "Learning is Doing." Our STEAM Enrichment Program brings that belief to life through hands-on exploration in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics — designed specifically for children ages 2 to 5.
Each week introduces a new theme, and every activity is built around it — giving children a cohesive, immersive learning experience that sparks curiosity and makes concepts stick. Classes meet twice a week and are grouped by age to ensure every activity is developmentally appropriate, so your child is always engaged at exactly the right level.
From experimenting and building to creating and discovering, our STEAM enrichment courses give preschoolers in Chesterfield the opportunity to build confidence, express their creativity, and develop a genuine love of learning that will follow them long after they leave our program.
Enrollment is limited and spots fill quickly. Contact our team today to learn more and reserve your child's place.

Science: The World Is Their Laboratory
Children are natural scientists — they touch, taste, test, and ask "why?" about everything around them. Our Science enrichment channel is built to honor that instinct and give it room to grow. Each week's theme opens a new window into the natural world, from watching seeds sprout into living plants to observing the way a caterpillar becomes a butterfly. Children get their hands in the soil, care for growing things, and witness the quiet miracle of metamorphosis firsthand. These aren't just activities. They are the kinds of experiences that teach patience, observation, and wonder in ways that a worksheet simply cannot. When a child watches something they planted push through the dirt for the first time, something clicks. That is science coming alive.
Technology: Little Thinkers, Big Ideas
E-Technology in early childhood isn't about screens — it's about understanding how things work and developing the confidence to figure things out. In our Technology channel, children are introduced to age-appropriate tools, concepts, and problem-solving processes that lay the groundwork for digital and critical thinking skills. Activities are designed to build curiosity about cause and effect, sequencing, and how the world around them is designed and engineered. We meet children where they are developmentally, using hands-on exploration to make abstract concepts tangible and fun. The goal isn't to create little coders. It's to raise thoughtful, curious thinkers who aren't afraid to ask how things work and try something new.
Engineering: Build It, Test It, Try Again
This class will be taught using the nationally recognized Zoo-Phonics program! Zoo-Phonics uses a whole brain approach to reading and spelling. Children will learn the sounds of the alphabet and phonemic concepts through a method of presentation that is easy to understand. With a ratio of 1:4 your child’s learning style and progress will be easily monitored by our teacher, and the lessons each week will be tailored to the specific needs of each small group. This class will be held twice a week for 40 minutes each session, and is available for children 2 years and older. Classes will be comprised of children on the same academic level.
Art: Creativity Is the Thread That Ties It All Together
Art is not a separate subject at Chesterfield Academy. It is the connective tissue of the entire STEAM experience. Our Art channel gives children the freedom to express what they observe, imagine, and discover through color, texture, and form. Tied to each week's rotating theme, art activities deepen children's engagement with the concepts they are exploring across all five channels. A child who spends the week learning about plants might paint what they observed in the garden or use natural materials to create something entirely their own. This cross-disciplinary approach builds not just creativity, but confidence. The belief that their ideas have value and their expression matters. That belief follows a child far beyond our classroom.
Mathematics: Numbers in the Real World
Mathematics begins long before a child ever writes an equation. It lives in the garden when they count seeds, in the kitchen when they measure ingredients, and on the playground when they compare how high something reaches. Our Mathematics channel introduces early numeracy concepts through the weekly themes children are already excited about, making abstract ideas feel immediate and real. Children explore concepts like measurement, patterns, quantity, and spatial reasoning through hands-on activities designed for their age and developmental level. When math is embedded in something a child already cares about — a growing plant, a building project, a piece of art — it stops being a subject and starts being a way of seeing the world.
